     Our company specializes in roof stain removal. We are experts in our field. We are trained to walk on roofs without damaging them.  The black stains on your roof are a form of algae known as Gloeocapsa magma. It thrives on roofs with asphalt shingles since they have lime as a part of their composition, giving the algae the necessary nutrient it needs in order to grow. Introduce sunlight and water, and all three ingredients are present for this algae to thrive. You may not always notice the algae on your roof because it typically starts its growth on the North side. Once established on the North side, the algae will slowly spread to the rest of the roof.

     Many roofs do not need to be replaced!! We have seen thousands of good roofs removed from homes because the homeowner was told that the stains would not come out or that the roof has damage. Most roofs come with a warranty between 20 and 50 years.  Roof stains typically appear between 7 and 10 years on a new roof.  So just because your roof looks old, doesn't mean it needs to be replaced.  When we finish cleaning your roof, it will look new!

 

There are two primary methods used in cleaning roofs.  It can either be cleaned chemically or with pressure.  We strongly advise against having your roof pressure washed.  Even companies that advertise for "soft wash" cleaning often times still use pressure washers to perform their service.  With our process, we never use a pressure washer on an asphalt shingle roof.  The chemicals are applied with a gentle mist and then rinsed with water using the pressure from the home owner's or business’ water outlet. The results are immediate and guaranteed for two years from the date of treatment. The stains will return, but if your home is treated properly, it will take between four and five before the algae can get reestablished.
